About Hemapriya Chellappan
Artist’s statement:
Hemapriya Chellappan is an illustrator, painter and poet, whose work celebrates nature, ordinary things and extraordinary details. She has been working as a commercial artist for a year now but has been drawing her whole life. Whether she’s doing personal work or following a creative brief, she allows herself to push boundaries and explore creative possibilities. She creates expressive characters and backgrounds to tell stories. Her work is predominantly digital. Although she likes to keep plenty of sketchbooks, filling them up with weird characters and life drawings. Hemapriya currently serves as a co-editor for Failed Haiku. Her recent works have appeared in Bloo Outlier Journal, Prune Juice, and Frogpond, among others. When she is not making art, Hemapriya can be found lying on the couch reading (and actually finishing!) books. |
